Located on the top floor of a two-story greystone that formerly housed the Star Concertina Manufacturing Company, Concertina Gallery is an exhibition space that uses both the interior living areas of the upstairs apartment as well as the sidewalk-level storefront windows. As a curator-run space, we understand curation to be a creative response to art and the issues it presents, as well as a means to provide ample written documentation of art and exhibitions - with an intent and responsibility towards maintaining dialogue between artists, their audience, and collaborators. Concertina Gallery exhibits artists from Chicago and beyond who engage with contemporary issues and we encourage artists to produce works specifically for our unique exhibition space. We also welcome proposals on a rolling basis for installations in our storefront window gallery.
